Terms of service

Effective October 3, 2026

These terms apply when you use myfainance (the "service") at myfainance.com. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

A free personal project

myfainance is a personal project run by an individual and is offered free of charge. There is no company behind it, no support team and no service-level agreement. Accounts are by invitation and may be limited at any time.

No guarantees

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, reliability, availability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. In particular, we don't promise that:

  • the service will be available at any given time, or will keep running at all;
  • calculations such as your available balance, net worth, reserved bills or budgets are correct or complete;
  • imports will read your statements correctly or catch every duplicate;
  • your data will never be lost.

Not financial advice

myfainance is a tool for keeping track of numbers you enter. Nothing in it is financial, tax, investment or legal advice. Always check important figures against your bank, card and other official statements before relying on them.

Your responsibilities

  • You're responsible for what you enter and for checking that it's right.
  • Keep your password, authenticator app and recovery codes safe. You're responsible for activity on your account.
  • Keep your own copies of anything you can't afford to lose. myfainance isn't a system of record.
  • Don't misuse the service: no attempts to access other people's data, disrupt the service, probe it for weaknesses without permission, or use it for anything unlawful.

Changes, suspension and shutdown

We may change, pause or stop the service, or any part of it, at any time. We'll try to give notice by email before shutting it down so you can save what you need, but we can't promise to. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator of myfainance won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, money, profits or opportunity, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service, even if advised of the possibility. Because the service is free, our total liability for any claim relating to it is limited to zero dollars ($0), or the lowest amount the law allows if that isn't permitted.

Your data

Your data stays yours. We use it only to run the service for you, as described in the privacy policy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The new version will be posted here with a new effective date, and important changes will be sent by email. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the new terms.
